Used Hot Tubs as Perfect Alternative
Used Hot Tubs -
Everyone enjoys using a hot tub in their home. However many do not wish to pay full price for
them. This is understandable considering how expensive the high quality models are. However there are ways to save
money, and reduce this normally high cost of luxury.
For instance instead of buying a
new model, you could buy a used hot tub. This is very similar to buying a used car, save
for the fact that you don't need a loan or insurance. The same precautions that you would use when buying a car
also apply here. You'll want to inspect the unit thoroughly before you buy it.
You'll want to check for cracks,
leaks, damage of any kind, scuff marks, and look at the wiring. Having minor damage to the outer parts of the unit
is fine. These don't affect the actual performance and may be reason that it's so low in price. Damage to the
interior of the unit is another story.
Buying a hot tub with a damaged
tub component can be a very bad decision. This will usually result in leaks, and this can also result in some minor
flooding. It can also damage the internals of the unit if there are any components below the tub. Models that have
electrical systems with extra bells and whistles should be looked at very carefully.
Water and electricity do not mix,
and having an issue when you're in the tub can be problematic to say the least. While it may be nice to get that
hot tub with the pop up TV for half off, there's usually a good reason it's half off. However this isn't saying
that buying a used model is a bad thing. In fact if purchased from a reputable dealer this can be a very good
thing.
You can find used models on the
internet or at certain retailers around the country. Although keep in mind when buying on the internet all you have
is the dealer's word, and the pictures he may have taken to illustrate the condition of the unit. Plus you have
shipping and handling costs.
Buying offline allows you to
examine the unit, and inspect for any issues. Lower end models that don't have complex electrical systems don't
require much of an inspection. Their laid out simply and easily. Most of the time there's just one panel to open
and that's it. Complex units on the other hand have multiple service panels, and connections that you have to look
at. If something strikes you as odd about the unit or it just feels bad then don't buy it.
There are plenty of other models
to choose from, and plenty more dealers to. So what do you have to look out for when buying a used hot
tub? First off be wary of too cheap of a price. If it's too low it's either outdated, which isn't
bad. Or it has something really wrong with it, which is bad. Also make sure you inspect the unit before deciding to
purchase it. Electrical damage can cost you a lot if something happens.
Finally make sure you find the
one that works for you, and not the biggest one with all the niceties that might get pushed onto
you.
